A clinic built around children, close to Gainsborough
Our Everton clinic is a quiet, purpose-built space with the specialist equipment we cannot always bring to a home visit. It is calm enough for children who find new places difficult, and set up so that assessment feels like play, not an examination. You will see the same therapist each time, your goals come first, and there is never pressure to commit to anything on the day. Take a look at the clinic.

Where we see children from Gainsborough
Our Everton clinic
Equipment, space and a setting built for children. Best for assessment and anything needing kit. See the clinic.
At home
Useful for babies, for children who find new places difficult, and for work that has to fit a real daily routine.
Nursery or school
Where the difficulty shows in PE or moving round the building, seeing it there is worth more than seeing it in a clinic.
Your physiotherapist in Gainsborough
You will see the same physiotherapist throughout, not a different person each visit. Continuity matters more in children’s therapy than most people expect — progress comes from someone knowing how your child moves on a bad day as well as a good one. Meet the team.
Fees
We publish what an assessment and follow-up sessions cost, so you can decide before you book rather than after. Fees and what to expect.
Do both. In Gainsborough you can refer your child to LCHS yourself today and still book an assessment with us. Given you can self-refer to the NHS here, there is no reason not to start both.

SEND support in Lincolnshire
If your child has additional needs, Lincolnshire County Council publishes the SEND Local Offer, setting out support available locally across health, education and social care. It is the starting point for anything involving an EHC plan, and it runs alongside — rather than instead of — private therapy.
How PT Kids fits alongside the NHS
Many of the families we see are also under an NHS team, and that works well: private physiotherapy runs alongside NHS care, not instead of it, and we are glad to share our findings with your child’s NHS therapist, consultant or school with your consent. If you would like the detail of how the local NHS service and referral route work, it is set out below.
The NHS children’s physiotherapy route for Gainsborough families
Who provides children’s physiotherapy on the NHS in Gainsborough
Lincolnshire Community Health Services runs children’s physiotherapy in Gainsborough as part of its Children’s Therapy team, alongside children’s occupational therapy and speech and language therapy. The team works county-wide with children and young people aged 0–19, and specialist physiotherapists see children whose physical difficulties affect the way they move.
There are physiotherapy and speech therapy clinics at Gainsborough Children’s Centre, with step-free access via lift.
Lincolnshire is different: you can refer your own child
This is worth knowing, because it is not the case a few miles west. LCHS accepts referrals from any source, including parents and carers, as well as health visitors, nurseries, schools, paediatricians and GPs. You make the referral and a physiotherapist calls you back to discuss your concerns and arrange an assessment.
Cross the boundary into Bassetlaw — Retford, Worksop — and the service there requires a professional referral. If you have been told by someone in Doncaster or Bassetlaw that you cannot self-refer, that advice does not apply to you in Gainsborough.

What we can do that the NHS service is not set up to do
This is not a criticism of the LCHS team, and in Gainsborough the honest position is narrower than elsewhere — because you can already refer your own child to the NHS service here, the usual private-practice argument about referral barriers does not apply. What is left is genuine, and it is about capacity and continuity rather than access.
Waiting time
A community service covering a county the size of Lincolnshire has to prioritise. We can usually see a child sooner.
No clinical threshold
If your child has been assessed and discharged, or told they do not meet the criteria, that is a resource judgement rather than a statement that nothing would help.
Continuity
The same physiotherapist throughout, rather than whoever is available in the rota that week.
It runs alongside, not instead
Starting with us does not remove your child from an NHS waiting list. Refer to LCHS and come to us in the meantime.
Local FAQs for Gainsborough
Can I refer my own child to NHS physiotherapy in Gainsborough?
Yes. Lincolnshire Community Health Services accepts referrals from any source, including parents and carers. A physiotherapist will call you back to discuss and arrange an assessment. This differs from Bassetlaw next door, where a professional referral is required.
Which NHS trust covers children’s physiotherapy in Gainsborough?
Lincolnshire Community Health Services, as part of its Children’s Therapy team, for ages 0–19. There are clinics at Gainsborough Children’s Centre.
Why would I pay privately if I can self-refer to the NHS here?
Usually waiting time, or because a child has been assessed and discharged but the difficulty has not resolved. It is an honest question and if the NHS route is the right one for your child we will say so.
Do you offer home and school visits in Gainsborough?
Yes. Home, nursery and school visits are a core part of what we do, alongside the Everton clinic.
Will seeing you privately affect our NHS referral?
No. Being seen privately does not remove your child from an NHS waiting list.
Not sure whether it needs therapy?
Tell us what you are seeing. We will give you an honest answer, including if that answer is no.
