Trusted by families and case managers

Real feedback from the families we support with paediatric physiotherapy across Yorkshire, Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.

How self-referral works

If you are worried about your child’s movement, development, posture, sensory needs or recovery after injury or surgery, you can contact us yourself. We will ask a few questions, discuss whether an assessment is appropriate, and offer an appointment at home, school, nursery or our Doncaster clinic.

You can self-refer for

Movement and mobility

Concerns about how your child moves, walks, balances or keeps up with friends.

Development and milestones

Milestone worries from birth onwards, with or without a formal diagnosis.

Posture and positioning

Postural management, seating and equipment needs across the age range.

Sensory and coordination

Sensory processing, coordination and taking part in everyday activities.

Injury and post-op recovery

Rehabilitation after injury, fracture or surgery, including intensive blocks.

Self-referral sits alongside NHS care. Many families use private physiotherapy or occupational therapy while they wait for NHS services, or when they want more intensive, specialist input.

What happens after you get in touch

We aim to respond promptly, understand your concerns, and arrange an assessment with a specialist paediatric clinician.

Role of Family and Caregivers in Supporting Development

Do I need a GP referral for children’s physiotherapy?

No. PT Kids accepts direct referrals from families. You can call, email or use our contact form without a GP letter.

Yes. Many families combine both. We are happy to work alongside NHS therapists when that helps your child.

Availability varies, but self-referral often means you can start the conversation straight away rather than waiting for a GP letter first. Contact us for current waiting times.

We support babies, children and young people aged 0–19 across Yorkshire, Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.

At home, school or nursery, or at our children’s clinic in Everton, Doncaster — whichever suits your child best.

Who can refer

Parents and carers can self-refer. We also welcome referrals from case managers, solicitors, schools, GPs and other health professionals — still without requiring a separate GP letter for the family pathway.

Not sure if we are the right fit?

Tell us what you are noticing and we will be honest about whether an assessment will help.

Ready to refer your child?
