A clinic built around children, close to Doncaster

Our Everton clinic is a quiet, purpose-built space with the specialist equipment we cannot always bring to a home visit. It is calm enough for children who find new places difficult, and set up so that assessment feels like play, not an examination. You will see the same therapist each time, your goals come first, and there is never pressure to commit to anything on the day. Take a look at the clinic.

Where we see children in Doncaster

Our Everton clinic

Equipment, space and a setting built for children. Best for assessment and anything needing kit. See the clinic.

At home

Useful for babies, for children who find new places difficult, and for work that has to fit a real daily routine.

Nursery or school

Where the difficulty shows in PE or moving round the building, seeing it there is worth more than seeing it in a clinic.

Your physiotherapist in Doncaster

You will see the same physiotherapist throughout, not a different person each visit. Continuity matters more in children’s therapy than most people expect — progress comes from someone knowing how your child moves on a bad day as well as a good one. Meet the team.

Fees

We publish what an assessment and follow-up sessions cost, so you can decide before you book rather than after. Fees and what to expect.

An appointment does not commit you to a programme. Plenty of Doncaster parents book one assessment to find out whether what they are seeing needs therapy at all. Sometimes the answer is that it does not.

SEND support in Doncaster

If your child has additional needs, City of Doncaster Council publishes the SEND Local Offer, setting out support available locally across health, education and social care. It is the starting point for anything involving an EHC plan, and it runs alongside — rather than instead of — private therapy.

How PT Kids fits alongside the NHS

Many of the families we see are also under an NHS team, and that works well: private physiotherapy runs alongside NHS care, not instead of it, and we are glad to share our findings with your child’s NHS therapist, consultant or school with your consent. If you would like the detail of how the local NHS service and referral route work, it is set out below.

The NHS children’s physiotherapy route for Doncaster families

Who provides children’s physiotherapy on the NHS in Doncaster

Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust runs the children’s physiotherapy service for Doncaster. It supports children and young people aged 0–16, and up to 19 in some circumstances, with musculoskeletal or neurological conditions.

The team sees children at hospital clinics, community clinics, and in schools, nurseries and at home across Doncaster and Bassetlaw. Its main base is the Child Development Centre at Doncaster Royal Infirmary on Armthorpe Road — entry via Gate 4, through the main doors next to the Costa.

How NHS referral works

Referrals come from a GP, a hospital doctor, a school or nursery, or another health professional. Parents generally cannot refer a child directly into the DBTH children’s physiotherapy service. That is the main practical difference from coming to us.

What we can do that the NHS service is not set up to do

This is not a criticism of the DBTH team. They do good work with a fixed budget and a duty to prioritise the children with the greatest clinical need, and we work alongside them — we take referrals from case managers and health professionals as well as from parents.

No referral needed

You can contact us yourself, today, without going through a GP.

No clinical threshold

If your child has been told they do not meet the criteria, that is a resource judgement — not a statement that nothing would help.

You choose the setting

Clinic, home, nursery or school, whichever suits your child.

It runs alongside, not instead

Starting with us does not remove your child from an NHS waiting list.

Local FAQs for Doncaster

Where is your Doncaster clinic?

2 Wesleyan Court, Everton, Doncaster. We also see children at home, at nursery and at school across the borough.

Which NHS trust provides children’s physiotherapy in Doncaster?

Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, for ages 0–16 and up to 19 in some cases, based at the Child Development Centre at Doncaster Royal Infirmary on Armthorpe Road.

Can I refer my own child?

To us, yes — contact us directly, no GP referral needed. For the NHS service, referral has to come from a GP, hospital doctor, school, nursery or another health professional.

How do I know if my child needs physiotherapy?

If your child is missing developmental milestones, moves differently from their peers, tires far more quickly, or has pain that is not settling, an assessment will tell you either way. You do not need to be certain before booking.

Do you offer home and school visits in Doncaster?

Yes. Home, nursery and school visits are a core part of what we do, alongside the clinic.

Will seeing you privately affect our NHS referral?

No. Being seen privately does not remove your child from an NHS waiting list, and many families use both.

Not sure whether it needs therapy?

Tell us what you are seeing. We will give you an honest answer, including if that answer is no.
