Claire qualified as a Physiotherapist in 2011 with a Postgraduate Diploma in Physiotherapy from the University of Huddersfield. Claire had previously graduated from the University of Hull in 2009 with a BSc (Hon) Sports Rehabilitation degree. Claire worked for the Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust for four years rotating around a number of inpatient and community’s settings, including an extended Paediatrics rotation. In early 2015 Claire relocated to Leeds to continue her Paediatric Physiotherapy career.
Claire works for the NHS as a community Paediatric Physiotherapist in Leeds. Claire has extensive experience working with children aged 0-19 with neurological conditions including cerebral palsy, brain injuries, spinal injuries, genetic conditions and undiagnosed neurological disorders. Claire’s passion for Paediatric Physiotherapy means she works with children in a wide variety of settings including Mainstream, Resourced and Specialist schools (SILCS) , respite centres and the child’s home. Claire has extensive experience working with other members of the multi-disciplinary team promoting effective child and family centred care. Claire employs a positive and friendly approach making every effort to achieve the child / family therapy goals. Claire sensitively builds an enthusiastic child friendly working relationship built on the child’s personal interests, making therapy fun.
Claire has valuable experience working with children with complex physical needs, she employs 24-hour postural management approach providing positional advice, equipment assessment / advice including sleep systems, standing frames and therapeutic walking frames. Claire also has lots of experience in devising and delivering Physiotherapy interventions including exercise programmes, intensive land based blocks, Rebound and Hydrotherapy. Claire has a special passion for leading Hydrotherapy having spent her formative years as a qualified swimming instructor and competitive swimmer.
