Specialist Children’s Physiotherapy
Martin qualified as a Physiotherapist in 2013 with a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy from Sheffield Hallam University. Since qualifying Martin has worked in a number of trusts across South & West Yorkshire, including a current role within the Leeds Community Healthcare Paediatric Neurodisability team. As part of this role he works closely with families, occupational therapists, community paediatricians and the wider multi-disciplinary team in order to give his patients the most effective, joint up care.
Martin has experience in working with children from 0-19, with a range of conditions such as Cerebral Palsy, Muscular Dystrophy, Developmental Delay and Chromosomal abnormalities. As part of his role within Leeds Community Healthcare he has been involved in delivering the post-op rehabilitation for several patients following Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR) surgery.
Martin routinely delivers Hydrotherapy programmes for his patients, and has completed additional training in Hydrotherapy to ensure he has the most up-to-date skill set, allowing his patients to receive the maximum possible benefit from their time in the pool.
Working in a variety of settings including SILC and mainstream schools, Child-development centres, orthotic clinics and patients homes Martin has a developed a range of communication styles to suit each patient and their families.
Martin is keen to work with patients and their families to understand their family life and what they would like to achieve through Physiotherapy. This allows goals to be set that are realistic, achievable, measurable and, most importantly, focused around the child and their own interests.
