Specialist Children’s Occupational Therapist

Katie qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 2016, gaining a BSc (Hons) in Occupational Therapy at York St John University. Katie has always had a great passion for working with children and young people and since qualifying, Katie has worked for two NHS trusts within Community therapy teams as a Paediatric Occupational therapist.

Katie’s roles have included close multi-disciplinary working with other health professionals and the wider professional team in order to promote a holistic approach and provide the most effective care for children.

Katie has experience of working with children aged between 0-19 years with a diverse range of conditions including; developmental delay, Developmental Co-ordination Disorder (DCD), Autistic Spectrum Disorders (ASD)and Downs Syndrome.

Katie’s caseload includes working with children and families in a variety of environments such as, their home, child development centres, mainstream schools and specialist schools. This including providing advice to teaching staff and making adaptations in order to help children access the curriculum.

Katie is a friendly and approachable therapist who works closely with both the child and family to gain an understanding of their everyday life and activities they wish to complete. From this, person-centred, measurable and achievable goals can be set and support provided to enable and enhance participation in activities of daily living.

Katie has great motivation and passion to help children achieve their maximum potential and endeavours to do her very best for children and their families.
